The Elite Cart Cover

The Birth of The Elite Cart Cover

Without regulation, open carts (vs. closed carts) were a hospital no brainer. They were cheaper and easier to disinfect, saving a hospital both time and money. However, things have begun to change, and Authority Medical Group experienced this firsthand. The year was 2016, and one of our customers had just been dinged by the Joint Commission for having open carts. Without the budget to purchase all-new closed carts, our customer turned to cart covers. At the time, cart covers were bland, bulky, and hard to maneuver, so naturally, they reached out to Authority Medical Group for a custom solution.

In a short time, our textile experts developed a patent-pending, fully customizable, Elite Cart Cover (ECC), that was like nothing else on the market (still is). The Elite Cart Cover incorporated a revolutionary Transformative Informative Panel, showing a highly visible biohazard indicator. Furthermore, Authority's specialized in house equipment allowed the Elite Cart Cover to have graphics that paralleled photographs.

Importance of Photo Quality Graphics

Hospitals see the best and worst of times, from childbirths to the passing of loved ones. Whether you are undergoing chemo or visiting a friend, emotions are heavy every time you walk through the doors of a hospital. Photo quality graphics on the Elite Cart Cover help to contribute to a positive, uplifting environment.

From cartoon characters on a pediatric cart to the Denali mountain range on the ECCs for Providence Alaska, the customization options are only limited by one's imagination. For any healthcare organization looking to liven the mood, the ECC is a simple solution that will have patients, staff, and visitors smiling.

Problems ECC's Solve

"Last year (2017), 72 percent of surveyed hospitals and critical access hospitals were found to be noncompliant with The Joint Commission's high-level disinfection and sterilization standard IC.02.02.01.”

The inability of open carts to contain liquids, needles, and other medical goods is a detriment to an organization. Contaminated, reusable items need to be contained and transported as soon as possible before biofilms start to form. Furthermore, contaminated items need to be contained to avoid cross-contamination with the environment and or individuals. Most importantly, these items need to be labeled a biohazard during storage and transportation.

When an Elite Cart Cover is used in conjunction with an open cart, contaminated items become contained, identified, and can be transported to the Central Sterile Department — leading to a decrease in accidental contamination and an increase in disinfection and sterilization.

Key Take Away

Hospitals and health care organizations alike face growing economic expenditures, as the Joint Commission increases disinfection and sterilization requirements. The patent-pending, fully customizable Elite Cart Cover from Authority Medical Group provides a simple, cost-effective solution. With custom graphics, a highly visible biohazard indicator, and the ability to contain contaminated objects in an open cart, the ECC is the perfect cost-saving solution for any health care organization.
